As climate-related electricity system disruptions grow more frequent and severe, we urgently need effective local strategies to achieve decarbonization, resilience, social equity, and security. Community Choice Agencies (CCAs) are uniquely well-positioned to play an important role in helping their communities prepare for and respond to disruptions. They can also play a key role in navigating to a 21st century decentralized electricity system that is very low in carbon emissions, safe, resilient, and accessible to all.
Our presenters for this webinar are Geof Syphers of Sonoma Clean Power and Jan Pepper of Peninsula Clean Energy. Mr. Syphers, Chief Executive Officer of California’s second CCA, Sonoma Clean Power, will share some of the actions SCP has taken in response to wildfires and Public Safety Power Shut-offs in one of the epicenters of grid disruption – Sonoma County. Geof will also share his perspective on the role of CCAs as we transition to a decentralized electricity system future. Jan Pepper, Chief Executive Officer of Peninsula Clean Energy, will share news and information about PCE’s recent commitment of up to $10 million toward resilience programs including solar+storage for medically vulnerable residents and critical facilities, and a joint RFP with two other CCAs for 30 MW of behind the meter solar+storage.
