Community Choice agencies (CCAs) serve their communities with electrical power, that’s the basic, given fact. There are other dimensions of power that CCAs engage in, such as the power of decision-making, the power of local control, and the power of fostering local economic development. CCAs also enjoy opportunities for exercising multiple dimensions of purpose. No two CCAs are the same and each CCA can reflect the particular values and priorities of the community it serves. Join us for our next webinar “Community Choice Energy: Power and Purpose” to explore how CCAs are fulfilling the promise of what a local, public, not-for-profit agency can do for its community. Attend the webinar to share your comments and questions!
Our presenter for this webinar is Dawn Weisz, Chief Executive Officer of MCE Clean Energy since its inception in May 2010. Dawn is responsible for the vision, strategy, and leadership of MCE. Dawn began coordinating efforts to explore and launch MCE in 2004. Under her watch, MCE has launched service to more than 450,000 customers in 33 communities and entered into power purchase agreements that have more than doubled the amount of renewable energy procured for customers, exceeded State Renewable Portfolio Standards, and achieved substantial greenhouse gas reductions to help local communities reach State Assembly Bill 32 targets.
Our second presenter, Beth Vaughan, is the founding Executive Director of the California Community Choice Association. CalCCA advocates for Community Choice Energy in California by representing the interests of Community Choice agencies in the legislature and at regulatory agencies.
