The Riverside County Board of Supervisors voted to approve the investigation of forming a Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) program. This CCA would serve ratepayers in unincorporated areas of the county and it is estimated that it will save them up to %9 percent on their energy bills. Starting the CCA would give residents an alternative to the incumbent utility, Southern California Edison.
Riverside County will be taking proposals for private firms to set up and operate the CCA.
“Rather than managing the CCA itself, the board approved a request for proposal from potential contractors to plan and implement the entity. This also will provide the board with specific rate information and potential city participants. The preliminary study did not include administrative costs, which the response to the RFP will provide.”
